This is one of my favorite deep wreck dives. It was nice to return to the San Francisco Maru almost 10 years after I first explored this wreck in 2007. I had the pleasure to dive this wreck on 6/25/16 on a trip with the Odyssey. It was a private dive as Captain James and I explored cargo holds 1 & 2. The first hold is filled with hemispherical land mines. The dark passage into hold #2 leads to multiple 80 kg bombs at 180 feet in complete darkness. As we ascended to the deck, there were 3 Japanese light tanks at 165 feet. The tanks are an iconic image that was first published in National Geographic in the 1970's.
