This is a short video from Truk lagoon from June 21, 2016. The Shinkoku Maru sank on February 18, 1944. We penetrated the ship from a large torpedo hole in the stern on the port side. This allowed access to the engine room and crew's quarters. The first few minutes of the dive were erie with no visible light from outside ship. The environment inside was quite fragile and the visibility changed rapidly. The video shows how easily rust peels off the passageways with only slight contact or current. The dive is better in small groups. I was thankful to dive again with Madison, a fantastic Chuukese guide who has been on the Odyssey for years.
