In 2011 we sailed 620 miles from Bali to Maumere on the Pindito. It remains one of my most favorite trips. There are few trips were you can photograph giant mantas, drink Luwak coffee, and get chased by Komodo dragons. The currents can be swift and attract larger fish, rays, and sharks. No dive site is the same. The black, volcanic ocean floors bubble with heated water and gas. Caves hide the skeletons of colossal sea turtles. Nudibranchs come in all colors and sizes. The views beneath the water are almost hallucinogenic. No photograph seems to capture the experience fully.
